Our Collaroy Plateau Centre
School Readiness Program
At The Owl & the Pussycat our Owls room, at both our centres, provide a comprehensive interest-led play-based preschool program designed to prepare every child for the transition to school.
We follow the National Quality Standard and develop individual plans using the Early Years Learning Framework. Our objective is to promote a strong sense of identity and wellbeing in each individual child. To develop confident and involved learners, who are effective communicators connected with, and contributing to, their world.
We use the locally created Funky Phonics Program to teach and promote language development throughout the service. While our School Readiness Program incorporates practical school readiness exercises and experiences throughout the year. We also enjoy connecting and partnering with our local schools. At The Owl & the Pussycat our goal is to develop children prepared for the school environment who understand their own, and recognise others’, physical, social and emotional cues and needs.

Kindyhub
We keep you up to date with photos and a daily diary through the KindyHub app and emails. The diary helps you to share the fun of preschool with your child at the end of the day. You can communicate instantly with educators.
Our Meals
Our daily routine encourages the children to sit, gather and enjoy delicious food together. They love eating colourfully seasonal, multicultural and nutritious meals with their friends and teachers. Everyone enjoys the sense of family and community connection that comes from sharing a meal together.
We provide morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack each day.
Our food is fresh from Australian farmers and follows the Australian Dietary Guidelines. Fruit and vegetables are served with every meal – with some extra hidden throughout… shhh!
We can cater to allergy and dietary requirements and are a strict nut-free centre.

Sustainability & Connecting with Nature
There is so much to discover outside! The children love exploring and learning as they play in nature. We teach the children about the environment, sustainability and the natural world, through fun interaction with our stingless bees, worm farm, class pets and our large outdoor space. Everyone enjoys gardening in our beautiful grounds.
Community Involvement
We love connecting with our community! We have enjoyed incursion visits from our local firefighters, children’s entertainers, Bush to Bowl, and even the reptile man! We have enjoyed excursions like teaching the children about healthy eating at our local fruit and veg shop. Parents, grandparents and families also visit and share their culture, professions and skills with us throughout the year.
Our Grounds
At both our centres we have dynamic classrooms centred around providing children with organic spaces to learn through play, as well as share daily meals and rest times. The daily routine flows between indoor and outdoor areas, giving children as much time as possible in fresh air and natural light, with many opportunities to exercise and move.
Our sand pits provide children with a fun and calming sensory experience.
We have onsite kitchens for preparing our delicious meals.
Both centres have convenient dedicated parking for parents.
